Putting perspective on your life and your goals

Do you ever have those moments in your life when you wake up some mornings with your cup of coffee and just think… think about your life..think about the possibilities of whatever.. think about tomorrow’s schedule… think about your life right now and right then? Do you ever just feel like you can’t really get a grasp on your life and need to get a reboot? Can I get an UM YES!

A question comes up a lot from friends and colleagues “how do you balance your life?” or rather “How do you do it?” and EVERYTIME I get this question, it does make me stop and think “AM I really doing it?” I would like to think I have it all figured out because I have worked really hard to try and balance my personal life, my family life and my business life into something I am very proud of. But honestly when I do get that question, I still feel I don’t really have it all together and want to re-organize my life.

Putting everything into perspective is an important thing for me to grasp, because I NEED to put things into perspective. Thats the first step into balancing your life is finding the importance of each thing you do or want to do. Being a Mother, being a wife, running a business and being a Photographer AND running our household is a lot to take in, but it works. No it didn’t work and drove me into panic mode for the first 2 years of my business as I was trying to figure out how to do this whole balance act and almost gave up SEVERAL TIMES! But you know what? I kept moving and stopped and re-organized my life and life got a whole lot easier from there or did it?

I would like to share with you a typical day for me, whether you care or not, its here and may make me seem more normal then you all thought I was! HA!

6:00am wake up, get coffee on, sit with my hubby and have coffee and chat (this is our time)

6:30am Get Casey’s breakfast on, iron a shirt if needed and send him on his way to work

7:00am Get the kids up and ready for school, Get the kids breakfast and lunches made

8:00am walk them to school

8:15am grab another cup of coffee and toast and answer emails and make my list of my to dos!

9:00am Morning meeting or head to the gym

10:30am return from meeting and begin returning phone calls

11:00am pick up Chase from school, get lunch on for Chase and chat about his day, grab lunch for me

12:00pm play a game or do homework with Chase

1:00pm Chase goes to play and I head back to my office to work on todays edits, marketing, print orders, etc..

2:30pm pick up Tianna from school (yep I have to split my day off in half because one kid gets out at half day)

typically after this, there are school activities, sports, etc. so my house is usually left as a disaster zone.

4:30pm start planning dinner, and while Tianna is doing homework and Chase is playing, I again get back to editing and sorting sessions.

6pm Finally sit down for dinner, and BE with my family talking about our days.

8pm Bed time for the munckins, read and pray with them

9pm get my inspiration out “bridal or Fashion Magazines” and a cup of tea and relax and research/read/get inspired!

I truly try and go to sleep at 11pm because sleep is so important!

As this is a typical day for me right now, it changes of course all the time! ESPECIALLY during the busy seasons! but alas here it is. I am a proud momma and absolutely love being home with my kids and wouldn’t trade that in for the world. Chase will be in school full time next year and it will begin a whole new balancing act and schedule changes.

In the last few years I have learned to cut my editing time in half, get most of my shots in camera without having to do any major editing, take a break and eat, and give my babies all the hugs in the world! those were my 3 goals I had the last 3 years and I have succeeded and it feels great!

I have added to my goals for the next 3 years and as it will be tough at first, it will be so great in the end! One of those being; to share more of my life with you all and connect with those clients that love me for me and my work (I will get into that in another blog post).

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening and also for sharing in my struggles to be a “normal” human being, business owner and most of all mommy!

To end this post with a photo, I have decided to add a new portrait taken of me by my dear friend Melissa, this is a new beginning of another personal goal for myself; to be in front of the camera more, Thanks friends!
