I absolutely LOVE getting a chance to photograph engagements for a couple reasons; I really get to see how each couple interacts with one another in front of my camera and just chatting with them, really getting to know eachother.
Creating relationships with each of my couples is such an important part of my process. Not only do I adore getting to know each one but also feel like our relationship is a huge part of the wedding planning and day because we are working so closely together.
A lot of my couples are from out of town and don’t get up to Portland often before their wedding day due to it being a destination wedding for them. So we chat via FaceTime or Skype quit a bit during the planning process as if you were here. I also have the opportunity to fly to you wherever that may be to photograph your engagements in a place that is meaningful to you and its always a good time!
Prior to any Engagement shoot, I send out a “Getting to Know You” questionnaire to grab a glass of wine and sit down together to answer. I always hear feedback about them that it was really fun to answer together and reminisce. Again this is just another way to help prep me for our shoot together. For instance here are some of the things Braeden and Natalie had said about one another about what they love most about eachother.
I love Braeden’s genuine appreciation and passion for the simple things in life: a good meal with family, soulful music, authentic friendships, sitting down and having meaningful conversations with others, brewing his own beer, hosting a good party – I could go on and on. He truly brings more good to this world because he appreciates the things in life that seem so simple. I’m learning a lot from him 🙂
I love everything about Natalie- she has so many great qualities. To name a few, she is incredibly empathetic and cares about others so much. She is super duper smart and couples that with her hard work ethic, I learn something from her every day. Finally, Natalie has an Irish heart, in that she lives and loves with all she’s got, whether it be a project at work, the friend that needs her support, or the team she is rooting for, she puts her whole heart into it.
Aren’t they the sweetest? I cannot wait for their wedding this August at Oregon Golf Club!
