Lacey and Bo couldn’t be any sweeter if they tried. They are the most humble and genuine couple and I was so thrilled Elizabeth from Bridal Bliss connected us! They shared a few things about them and the plans that went into their wedding, check it out below. We are also so excited to see their beautiful wedding featured on The Knot today! Head over to see that feature HERE ofcourse when you are done looking at our faves from their day!
Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: Our inspiration was to have a ‘wine country in the city’ wedding. We wanted to highlight wine in a variety of ways from our gorgeous wine stain invitations, wine cork escort cards, the rich merlot color of the wedding, local wine in the wedding welcome bags, the adorable takeaway handmade cookies, and finally the great selection of drinking wine! Our colors evolved into a luxe fall palette of navy, merlot, burnt orange, with hints of red and lush greenery.
Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A: We wanted to incorporate fresh harvest details throughout the venue with local products and local purveyors of food and wine. We had a bountiful harvest on the dining tables of fall fruits (figs, pomegranates, blood oranges, purple artichokes), beautiful candles, lush greenery, and gorgeous flower arrangements. One of the greatest surprises as a gift from our wedding venue, florist, and wedding planner was a huge cursive monogram “L” that hung above the dance floor made out of the eye-catching floral–quite the show stopper! Our biggest DIY endeavor was our wedding welcome bags for our out of town guests staying at the hotel. The Bride’s mother, Maggie, made incredible tote bags out of fabric that highlighted different Portland landmarks and marquee signs. We filled the bags with local artisan snacks, drinks, cookies, medicine, and maps.Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A: We wanted to incorporate deep, rich floral tones which was perfect for our luxe fall wedding. We used calalilles, dahlias, ranunculus, roses, berries, along with lush greenery throughout the bouquets, corsages, dining tables, and standing glass bookshelves for our escort cards. We wanted to keep our ceremony fairly simple and neutral since our reception was full of floral and live centerpieces. Our ceremony was elegantly light by many candles along the aisle and alter and we had a beautiful white ceremony backdrop.Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A: Our main goal was to create the best experience for our guests! We had a beautiful string quartet during the ceremony, an awesome photo booth for guests to play around in, and an incredible DJ team that kept the party going late into the night! Some of our favorite parts of the wedding were the memorial table filled with frames of our beloved family members so they could experience our wedding front and center. Something that we will remember for ever are the best man and matron and maid of honor speeches–they were hilarious and touching! We also loved our late night foot bites 🙂Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A: For the women, I actually selected the bridesmaid dress first. I loved the elegance of the merlot color, long, beaded blouson dress from Adrianna Papell. From there, I found a perfect wedding dress that also had a beaded bodice, adorable capped sleeves with the most beautiful puddle train. I wanted wear a a curly updo to shoe off the beadwork on the dress and I paired that with a cathedral length veil that tied the whole look together! For the men, I wanted to find a deep navy suit to match the sleek Nines venue vibe. The Black Tux had a perfect midnight blue tuxedo option with black lapel that was perfect! All of the men wore the same tuxedo and accessories and the groom had additional black button covers to be just a little different.Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A: We actually first met on Match.com and then realized that there were many times in life that our paths crossed. We realized we both went to our small college at the same exact time and even realized we were in the same Greek Life dance in 2005 with pictures to prove it! We realized very early on how compatible we actually are and that this was true love. Bo proposed in Las Vegas at the Cosmopolitan Hotel 1 year and 3 months after we started dating. We chose our wedding venue (The Nintes Hotel) due to the parallels of modern and sleek characteristics it shares with the Cosmopolitan.Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: Our most anticipated moment of the wedding day was probably the venue reveal following our entrance during happy hour. Our first look was a close second, but entering that room and seeing all the thoughtful reception details come to life was far better than we had imagined it!
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A: A wedding planner is an absolute must! Take their advice on venues to look at and vendors they recommend.
